Sympatico was originally an instrumental piece composed by Patrick for Sam Sheperd's Broadway play "Simpatico," now a major motion picture starring Sharon Stone, Jeff Bridges, and Nick Nolte. Sue heard the music and fell in love with the melody. A pop arrangement and lyrics came next. The melody was so sensuous, like an old cocktail jazz standard, that the lyrics just had to be a story about holiday romance... It was then recorded by Sue and Shannon at his studio in Chelsea one quick weekend.

*Patrick O'Hearn is an internationally known composer and bassist. His credits include time spent with the Frank Zappa band, and with jazz great Dexter Gordon. He was one of the founding members of the 80's band Missing Persons. Most impressively, Patrick was one of the creative forces behind what is now termed "New Age" music. He presently thrives in North Carolina, maintaining a solo career that includes recording and film scoring. Check him out. You won't be disappointed.

Inside Me is essentially a little demo done on Eskil's Roland digital recorder. Esky, a multi instrumentalist who happens to be our drummer, arranged and recorded the backing tracks. Lucky me, all I had to do was show up and sing.

This little love song is one of my more sweet and innnocent pieces. My guy somehow evokes this kind of sentiment from me... I guess it's true love when someone can transform another into a kinder, more gentle human... Here's to Albert.

Out of the Blue

This piece was originally recorded by Big Sky, my old band. All the players were extraordinary, and I feel very fortunate to have worked with them. Another wonderful thing during that time period was our work with Phil Ehart, the drummer for Kansas. He produced the track. His wit and knowlege never ceased to blow us away! Eskil, the drummer for Big Sky, was especially happy because Phil was one of his infuences! So, there you have it. I hope you enjoy the piece.

This is a song about limitations... metaphorically, the box inside my own head. You better believe I can stay cooped up in there for too long!! Sometimes you just got to jump out there, and act as if you can!!! Great things can happen if you take a plunge and just go for it!

Bitter Girl

A song about a girl in a whole lot of trouble.... Bitter Girl was written about a young friend of mine who was hooked on a synthetic form of heroin. Thank God, there is a real-life happy ending to this story!

This piece was given to me unfinished by the late great James Scruggs, my favorite songwriter, and also my writing partner on and off for over 10 years. I added some stuff about good old unrequited love. I hope he would have approved of this fine version.
